Prudential Skywalk Announces Year-Long Contemporary Art Exhibit

Greatest Hits Features Internationally-Celebrated Artist Danny O

BOSTON, MA, April 10, 2002. The Skywalk observation deck of Boston?s Prudential Building comes alive on April 19 with the installation of a year-long exhibit by Massachusetts artist Danny O.

O's exhibit, Greatest Hits from Boston to the Berkshires, includes large-scale photographic reproductions of collage images representing the best of the Commonwealth. From the majestic facades of Fenway Park and the Orpheum Theater, to the lesser-known Jack's Hot Dog Stand in North Adams, Danny O depicts his home state with colorful, inventive whimsy, finding equal beauty in a crooked roadside shack and the grandeur of Harvard Yard.

"We couldn't be happier to be exhibiting Danny O's work," says Skywalk General Manager Raphael Oliver. "Visitors to the Skywalk have always been had the best views of Boston. With this exhibit, they get to see the best of the Commonwealth, as well."

"Surrounded by 360 degree views of Boston's skyline, the effect is affecting, entertaining, and completely breathtaking," he adds.

"Danny's art is spontaneous and vibrant, and it always has tremendous mass appeal," said Alison Benjamin, Project Director at Boxcar Media, the firm currently representing the artist. "The Greatest Hits show offers a lively, contemporary perspective on quintessential Massachusetts sites. There's something here for everyone - from children to grandparents, sports fanatics to devotees of high culture."

Each image in the Greatest Hits collection is printed on 36" x 36" photographic paper. Smaller reproductions are available on Danny O?s web site, www.dannyoart.com. The show is partly sponsored by the Berkshire Visitors Bureau.

The Greatest Hits exhibit marks Danny O's return to Boston after one year living in the Berkshires. Among Danny O's most celebrated Boston exhibitions was a 35-foot piece created from found balls, which was installed at the De Cordova museum in 1999. In addition to the De Cordova, Danny O has been shown at MASS MoCA and the Norman Rockwell Museum. His work has been collected by Fidelity, Soft Key International, Atlantic Records, Rounder Records, Dialogos, American Tower Corporation, Veritas Software, and more. His illustrations have appeared in the Boston Globe, as well as national magazines, and he has created artwork for game boards, book jackets, and CD covers. A painting of his was featured on the opening sequence of the Mad About You hit television show.

The Prudential Skywalk is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM. Located on the 50th floor of the Prudential Building, the Skywalk offers birds-eye vistas of Boston, Cambridge, the suburbs, and - on clear days - Cape Cod. The Skywalk has comfortable seating for sitting and enjoying the views. For more information about this exhibit, visit www.dannyoart.com.
