  • Danny O's vibrant art is built upon inventive imagination. An instinctive recycler, he creates collage art using a range of media, from comic books and colorful magazine paper to subtle and sophisticated Scotch tape drawings. Vintage record album covers and old lottery tickets serve as his modern canvas, adding further depth and meaning to each collage. His studio reflects his eclectic art style and media: "Clean before a project ... paper-ridden floor afterward. Stacks of albums and magazines, a wall of sunny windows, and a beautiful black and white cat."

His inspiration comes from Pop culture and objects from everyday life. He is influenced by artists such as the Beatles, The Jam, Paul Klee, Matisse, Warhol, Scott Zieher, Jeff Smith, Wayne Viens, the Fort Point artist collective of the late 90's, Milton Avery, and most influential, his artistic family background, especially his frugal and inventive mother and father. Whose transformation of everyday objects is the core source of his approach to art.

As an artist, Danny O works in many media. Most notable is his 3-D ball art. He has collected an astounding 22,000 lost or discarded balls, which he has made into intricate mosaics for commercial and museum installations.

Credited as the first person to make art with Scotch tape, he uses a transfer process to create delicate line illustrations and graphics. In 2005 Danny was the spokesperson for 3M's 75th anniversary of Scotch Tape. He created portraits of David Letterman, Oprah and the Statue of Liberty in his trademarked technique.

Danny creates posters, postcards, prints and t-shirts each year for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. He has also been commissioned by PHISH to create an epic artwork for their summer concert in 2002. His work has been licensed extensively, his images appearing on tin signs, a line of scrap booking, note cards, postcards, and t-shirts. The artist's work is now available in Home Goods, Target, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond, The Christmas Tree Shops and specialty stores across the country.

Danny O's work has been seen on "Extreme Makeover the Home Edition".

Danny O is a native of Lexington, Massachusetts. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy, first as a photographer's mate and later as a Navy artist. He then pursued his education at The Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. Danny now lives and works from his log cabin or tree fort studios situated in the Berkshires Hills of Western Massachusetts.
